Diversity in the Community

At Durham District School Board, we are supportive of all families.  Please click  here to see details of a LGBTQ event for parents in the DDSB on February 29th. Participants will have an opportunity to meet other parents and to share ideas and suggestions on how we can ensure that Durham District School Board is a welcoming place for all families.

donated_coats_winceAlexander Graham Bell P.S is taking part in the DDSB Winter Clothing Drive and Awareness Campaign for Northern First Nation Communities. This board-wide Social Action Project invites staff, students and families at participating schools to learn about circumstances and living conditions in many northern First Nation communities, and to donate new or gently-used, clean winter outerwear and small fleece blankets.

Donations may be made from January 23 - February 3, 2012 and must be new or gently-used, clean and in good condition. The only items being accepted are winter coats, jackets, snow pants, boots, hats, scarves, mitts and small fleece blankets.

Winter Playground Safety

winter_kidsThe Town of Ajax has signs posted on the playground to the north of the school indicating that the site is not suitable for use in inclement weather. An inspection of the site revealed that the wood chip bedding is frozen solid under the first inch of bedding. This makes for a very hard and dangerous landing for children. In the interest of student safety we have suspended school use of the playground during school hours until the spring thaw. Thank you for your support and your shared concern for student safety.

Pat on the Back

initiative_winceThe Pat on the Back theme for January is Empathy.  Empathy means respecting and understanding the feelings of others and by acting with kindness and compassion.  You can display empathy by; caring about the thoughts and feelings of others; helping others when they get hurt; sticking up for your friends.

School Bus Cancellations

74782_winceIn the event of the cancellation of school bus services or school closures, the  media outlets indicated in the "read more" section below will be notified before 7 a.m.:
