Alexander Graham Bell P.S is taking part in the DDSB Winter Clothing Drive and Awareness Campaign for Northern First Nation Communities. This board-wide Social Action Project invites staff, students and families at participating schools to learn about circumstances and living conditions in many northern First Nation communities, and to donate new or gently-used, clean winter outerwear and small fleece blankets.
The Town of Ajax has signs posted on the playground to the north of the school indicating that the site is not suitable for use in inclement weather. An inspection of the site revealed that the wood chip bedding is frozen solid under the first inch of bedding. This makes for a very hard and dangerous landing for children. In the interest of student safety we have suspended school use of the playground during school hours until the spring thaw. Thank you for your support and your shared concern for student safety.
The Pat on the Back theme for January is Empathy. Empathy means respecting and understanding the feelings of others and by acting with kindness and compassion. You can display empathy by; caring about the thoughts and feelings of others; helping others when they get hurt; sticking up for your friends.
